GAMES! CRAFTS! BALLOONS! PRIZES! The Woodbridge Public Library had an indoor fair for the participants of their Summer Reading Club. Adults and children enjoyed their morning away from the heat making crafts, catching fish, playing golf, tossing, and Being Creative @ their Library!

SUPER SPENDING

Kaitlyn and 'Super' Kristen had fun spending their book bucks and earning a "Catch the Reading Bug" t-shirt. Kristen (pictured on right) decided to wear her 'cape' and seek out some SUPER books. That day Kristen proudly wore her Be Creative @ your Library t-shirt, decorated at the library, with mom's loving help!

Watercolor Workshop

This year Ms. Sharon taught children entering grades 4 to 7 different art techniques. Children have created a collage, decorated a t-shirt, experimented with oil pastels, and learned how to make a landscape with watercolors. Take a peek at the bookmarks of Simritha, Sahil, and Hetul. Ms. Sharon's next program will be on August 6th for sand art.

Preschool Storytime- Imagination

If you think that Olivia and Isabella Alvarez are sitting in a box, think again, because "IT'S NOT A BOX!" This is their special 'club house'. After reading Not a box and Not a stick by Antoinette Portis, children exercised their creative minds and created many things out of a box. Children had a choice of up to 3 boxes, they arranged the box(es), and then they shared with the group their new creation. Some of their ideas were the following: an elevator, a car, a train, a butterfly, a swimming pool, and many more ideas were shared. Also, if you think these girls are sitting in their 'club house' with a piece of the box, "IT'S NOT A BOX....it's a BOOK!" A book that they created out of cardboard.

Much fun was shared, as you can see in the picture on the right, children also enjoyed our fun-filled musical parade!

This year our summer reading club theme is "Be Creative @ Your Library"! Children in Woodbridge have been busy displaying their creative designs on T-shirts, masks, sand art, and now they've created and decorated their own instrument. Whether they chose a tambourine or a drum, I'm sure they had lots and lots of FUN @ their library!

Preschool Storytime

After learning some new dance moves like the do-si-do and pirouette, from Hilda Must be Dancing by Karma Wilson, children enjoyed creating a fan to cool down. Ali's favorite story that day was Dinosaurumpus by Tony Mitton. If you haven't read those books by now, it's not to late!
