End of Summer Reading Club Party

This party was geared toward children ages 5 & under who participated in the Dream Big Read 2012 summer reading club. Children listened to stories, danced to music, made crafts, and had snacks. Three lucky guests won our door prizes, but everyone had a chance to pick a prize and everyone was fortunate to meet and greet with the CAT in the HAT! :O)

Preschool Storytime

Last week children listened to bedtime stories and made these silly hats based on the silly pigeon created by Mo Willem. If you like Mo Willems's pigeon, you'll LOVE his Elephant and Piggie series.... check with your librarian and take them home TODAY!

Book Bingo!

Children played a fun game of bingo and at the end EVERYONE was a winner and chose a BOOK! Enjoy your books and the rest of the summer!

GRRRReat Preschool Program

If you haven't read these books yet, stop in and check them out! If you've already read these stories check out some of our other GRRRReat monster stories! This week children paraded to the monster mash (f.y.i.-libraries have a wonderful selection of music cds, check them out for 4 weeks for FREE!) and created a special monster of their own! This week, Read to your MONSTERS!

Dream Big Invent!

Look at our future inventors of Iselin! Together they worked in groups and made Play-doh! Some children located the ingredients, some children measured, some children mixed, and some children  had the most important task of READing  the directions! Notice how our 'scientists' chose different ways to mix their experiments. Many loved getting their hands messy, but trust me nobody touched our books until their hands were nice and clean. After this program children were inspired to check out our science experiment and cooking books to continue their fun-filled experiences at home! Hey it's still your summer vacation, so enjoy it!

 Play-doh recipe
1 Cup Flour
1/2 Cup Salt
1 Tablespoon Oil
1 Teaspoon Cream of Tartar
1/2 Cup of Warm Water
Food Coloring

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Knead with hands. Add more flour if sticky. Add more water if crumbly. Have Fun!
